How PowerCut.Live Works

Learn how PowerCut.Live collects community outage and restoration reports and how to interpret local electricity outage information.

Community outage reporting

People can report that electricity is unavailable or that power has returned for a six-digit pincode. Reports are timestamped and associated with the location selected by the user.

Current status and historical reports

PowerCut.Live uses recent reports for its local status experience and retains historical activity for area-level trends. A local signal can change when new outage or restoration reports are submitted.

What the data means

Community reports indicate what users have reported. They do not establish the official cause of an interruption, an official restoration estimate, or the operational status of an electricity provider.

Reliability score

The reliability score is an informational PowerCut.Live metric based on recorded outage activity. It is not an official utility, regulatory, or government reliability rating.
